Your basic lessons will start around the horse and not on its back, and will successfully end with your first ride. Small steps are the best starter of your relation with an equine. You should start with letting it see you together with its trainer, so that the horse will gradually accept your presence, in terms of smells, voice and all those typical gestures that no one is even aware of. It is best if you don't wear perfumed creams and lotions on your skin when dealing with an animal which is not accustomed to your presence.
